ANSWERS TO WRITTEN QUESTIONS 130. Sports Development expenditure 2003-04 - Mutitjulu Mr ELFERINK to MINISTER for SPORT How much is being spent in financial year 2003-04 for sports development by way of Sports Grants and Wages in Mutitjulu? ANSWER Sport and Recreation funding for financial year 2003-04 for Mutitjulu Community Incorporated (Mutitjulu Community) under Local Government Bodies Grant Developing Your Community is $12 000. The outcome statement for Mutitjulu approved by the Minister is, Retention of the services of current youth and recreation officer and continued professional growth through training and working in a collaborative manner for the betterment of the community. Continued training and motivation for the youth and recreation crew. The community makes the decision about how best to achieve this outcome, in this instance the outcomes are being achieved through the: employment of a suitable person(s) to coordinate the provision of appropriate sport and recreation opportunities within the local community in line with Office of Sport and Recreation and Council objectives. The current Office of Sport and Recreation Officers position is part-time. Local Government Councils can also apply for fimding under the Office of Sport and Recreations Grass Roots Development Grants Program, which has two fimding rounds. The first round closed 30 January 2004, the second round of fimding closes 31 August 2004. 131. Sports Development expenditure 2003-04 - Aputula (Finke) Mr ELFERINK to MINISTER for SPORT How much is being spent in financial year 2003-04 for sports development by way of Sports Grants and Wages in Aputula (Finke)? ANSWER The Apatula Community Government Council (Aputula (Finke) Community) did not apply for a grant under the Office of Sport and Recreations Local Governing Bodies Grants Program in 2003-04 financial year. Sport and Recreation funding for financial year 2003-04 for Aputula Housing Association Incorporated under Grass Roots Development Grant is $3000. Grass Roots funding is made available twice in each financial year. Organisations can only receive one Grass Roots Grant per financial year. Therefore, Aputula community will be eligible to apply for further Grass Roots funding in the 2004-05 financial year. Applications for that year close on 31 August 2004. 132. Sports Development expenditure 2003-04 - Titjakala Mr ELFERINK to MINISTER for SPORT How much is being spent in financial year 2003-04 for sports development by way of Sports Grants and Wages in Titjakala? ANSWER Sport and Recreation funding for financial year 2003-04 for Tapatjatjaka Community Government Council (Titjikala Community) under Local Government Bodies Grant Developing Your Community is $25 000. The outcome statement for Tapatjatjaka approved by the Minister, Development of appropriate programs and projects providing opportunities for community members involvement in educational and sport and recreational activities. The community makes the decision about how best to achieve this outcome, in this instance the outcomes are being achieved through the: employment of a suitable person(s) to coordinate the provision of appropriate sport and recreation opportunities within the local community in line with Office of Sport and Recreation and Council objectives. Local Government Councils can also apply for fimding under the Office of Sport and Recreations Grass Roots Development Grants Program, which has two funding rounds.
