Junction Journal November, 2017 10 Douglas-Daly Mixed Netball Finals The 2017 Mixed Netball came to an end last Friday night 10 th November with some hard, fast and extremely thrilling couple of games. Blue and Green team played a Semi Final game consisting of 5 minute quarters to see which team would take on the red team in the Grand Final. The match started goal for goal, and then green resembled to the spectator they might just have the upper edge before blue team started a narrow lead in the third quarter and lengthen their lead by the fourth to win 11 /5. Kathy and Cindy umpired and did not let back on the whistle and showed their superior towards the players. Red and blue team took to the court a little while later whilst red had the upper hand of fresh legs, blue showed they were warmed up and ready. Both teams displayed some great shooting with Ross and Lucia both trying to lead their teams to victory with some impressive goal shooting. Rooster was brought back into blue team having only played one game for the season showed he could shoot a few hoops. Defence from both sides was tight with Dan & CJ defending for red and Chris Oliver and Jo Farrell for blue, but blue found them selves struggling for some height against Ross with both teams evenly matched through the centre court. Chris Oliver and Amanda Howie found themselves in a few tussles, before red team showed their consistent dominance to win 20/11. Red team has won three years consecutively, and are wanted by all other teams to be taken down. The presentation was held on Saturday night at the Tourist park. Most Improved player for the season went to Dan Thompson. Best and Fairest for the season was awarded to Amanda Howie and Best on Court for the Final was Ross Parker. Best player for Blue team Chris Howie, and Best player for Green Team Leanne Johnson. I would like to say a big thank you to people that umpired, scored and helped in catering for the season. Amanda Howie
