34 210. Four other Australian Ombudsman jurisdictions have the power to compel incriminatory answers, although in one case this is limited to public servants. There are many other entities within Australian jurisdictions of a similar nature that have the power to compel answers. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Recommendation 7 The NT Government take steps to amend the Ombudsman Act to abrogate the privilege against self-incrimination for the purposes of investigations under the Act, subject to inclusion of adequate protections against future use of information disclosed.
