-2 This information sheet, released in October 2015, specifically states Crocodiles can attack and take people from boats, and the smaller your boat the greater the risk! In 2016, the Commission will continue to expand its efforts to increase awareness within the boating and fishing community through increased exposure to signage and messages at fishing tackle shops across the Top End. The Commission will also continue to attend Top End events, such as the Darwin 4WD Boating Camping Show, the Darwin Boat Travel and Leisure Show and the Royal Show, where life size interpretative signage will be used to demonstrate the size of saltwater crocodiles relative to boats that are on display. While the Coroner made no specific recommendations in relation to the death of Mr Tran, the Commission is also working with Charles Darwin University to deliver Be Crocwise messaging to migrant and English-second-language residents. I understand that upon receipt of this response, a report will be prepared for tabling in the Legislative Assembly, as is required under section 46B(3) of the Coroners Act. Yours sincerely YI' ANDREW BRIDGES ZZ February 2016 Cc: Mr Greg Shanahan Chief Executive Officer of The Department of the Attorney-General and Justice
