FUNDING OF REGIONAL COUNCILS AND LOCAL AUTHORITIES 3 It is anticipated that this funding will be released to councils in the next few weeks. Closing the Gap Funding In addition to the above funding, all eight councils are able to apply for grants from the Closing the Gap grant program in 2013-14. The 2013-14 grant pool is $2 million and is designed to directly support local authorities. Assessment of the 2013-14 applications is due to commence next week. The Department will be undertaking a review of this grant program with a view to re-designing the grant guidelines to ensure the program is focussed on supporting local authorities.
