Abstract

The goals of this study are: 1) To present what is known currently of the status and function of Darwin Harbour in regard to nutrient loads and the processing of these; 2) To outline how to address the question of nutrient assimilative capacity of the Harbour, and what further knowledge is needed to achieve it; 3) To identify how to tackle the knowledge gaps and recommend a priority for their resolution. This desktop study forms part of the Darwin Harbour Water Quality Protection Plan (WQPP) project and conforms to a priority of the plan to protect Darwin Harbour waterways from excessive nutrient inputs. - Introduction,
