LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF THE NORTHERN TERRITORY co-ordinating the procurement of the mammography equipment to be installed in the 4WD vehicle. Work is also underway reviewing the statistical data of the NT population to determine the 20 towns that will be visited based on the highest population of eligible women. Recruitment is underway for a project officer to assist the current management in working towards having the remote mobile unit operational by mid 2014 in line with the NPA. A site has been identified in Palmerston Health, with work being undertaken to gain quotes to develop the site into a suitable environment for breast screening services. Suicide Prevention Legacy Item: $0.33 million ongoing Currently finalising the employment of an Indigenous Suicide Prevention Officer to assist in developing strategies that lead to a decline in the Territorys youth suicide rate and to establish a Territory website for Suicide Prevention and Support Information. In addition, the program will: implement school-based programs targeting at risk youth ($50 000); fund research to be conducted by Menzies School of Health into self harm ($50 000); and fund an Indigenous Youth Engagement Officer for Headspace ($50 000). The remaining $80,000 will assist in continuing to fund Suicide Action Groups and NGOs for suicide intervention and prevention education programs including the Mental Health Association of Central Australias Suicide Story program, Lifeline Central Australia, Wesley Lifeforce and AngliCare, provision of a nurse to provide OzHelps Tradies Tune Up for Construction workers in the Top End; and expansion of the highly successful Counterpunch boxing choice theory program to Katherine in 2013. Saving Strategies Mini Budget Saving Strategies include: Labour cost substitution strategies. These strategies relate to : o reduction in agency staff usage o reduction in locum usage o unnecessary overtime reduction o revised rostering practices o increase in permanent staff to offset overtime, agency and locum costs Reduction in non frontline administration - further non frontline efficiencies will be achieved for implementation of a new services framework and boards of management. Reduction in overhead costs including o Reduction in fleet, and cost containment o Implementation of travel restrictions o Review of ICT devices and implementation of restrictions Imposition of general efficiency charge of 2% across all health services on operating expenditure One-off NGO saving of 1.25% of last quarter payment for all NTG funded grants. Own source revenue generation including: o Medicare billing for outpatient services o Billing for inpatient services for patients with private health insurance o Billing for theatre prosthetics and consumables for patients with private health insurance o Medicare billing for radiology servicers
