ASH ED has been the most vigorous in assessing the impact but the ASH parameters are either not available or not reliably completed in other EDs in the NT. Some interstate studies have reported that less than 10 percent of alcohol related presentations can be recognised from the ED principal diagnosis. Fully attributable conditions include diagnoses such as alcoholic gastritis and alcoholic pancreatitis but do not include less specified conditions such as unspecified chronic pancreatitis or assault.
