Abstract

This study explores the role of non-Aboriginal teachers and administrators in an Aboriginal school, arguing that much of our contemporary policy and practice represents a continuation of the historically, dominant assimilationist perspective. This study seeks to explain the current situation by exploring a critique of the dominant, prevailing educational and administrative theories which guide policy and practice. This study concludes by seeking such guidance, proposing guidelines for teachers and administrators. - Abstract,
