Casuarina Square: Closed JUDITH AISTHORPE Mel Pritchard and Addison Ortis, 6, of Ruby G's in Coconut Grove with their range of hot cross buns Picture: MICHAEL FRANCHI varied between 141.9c/l and a 138.9c/l for U91. The price of diesel was holding firm on the weekly price of 130.4c/l. AANT CEO Byron Henderson said the organisation did not expect fuel prices would rise over the weekend. Generally the NT does not see price cycles that increase prices prior to major holidays and long weekends such as Easter, he said. During the Easter weekend in 2016 the average price of petrol remained unchanged across Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs. As always however we encourage motorists to shop around for the cheapest fuel and plan ahead to obtain fuel in cheaper locations. In the Darwin region you there is a difference of over 20c/l from the cheapest fuel location to the most expensive so it pays to look for the cheapest price. Dont be fuelled by price MOTORISTS would do well to shop around for the best priced fuel before they rush to fill up their tank and head off to enjoy the Easter weekend break. The four-day break has seen the price of petrol go up only marginally at some stations while others have kept their prices unchanged. However if you arent price savvy and keen on saving yourself a few dollars you could end up paying close to 20c/l more for your fuel. The NT News found the cheapest fuel in Darwin was still the new United outlet on the Stuart Highway at Parap where U91 was selling for 126.7c/l while some of its United colleagues were similarly priced. The terminal gate price in Darwin yesterday was 121.9c/l for U91, which was 4c/l higher than the nations mainland capital cities. The highest price fuel in Darwin and the suburbs was 145.9c/l for U91, a whopping 24c/l higher than the terminal gate price. Most petrol stations had fuel selling at 129.9c/l for U91 in line with their preEaster pricing. In popular tourist destination Katherine, 317km away, the price of fuel GARY SHIPWAY THE iconic hot cross bun has gone all fancy. Local bakeries are taking the traditional Easter bread and giving it a modern twist from Nutella-filled to chocolate choc chip and even hot cross bun ice-cream sandwiches which you can get at the Rabbit Hole in the CBD. Ruby Gs Canteen and Bakery in Coconut Grove will be open over its first Easter and expect to make around 600 of the sweets on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Mel Pritchard and Shane Ortis own the bakery and are looking forward to indulging in chocolate goods. You can make lots of yummy chocolate things and hot cross buns, Ms Pritchard said. They have even created a triple chocolate brownie filled with Easter eggs and a doughnut bun hybrid a fried doughnut with fruit and cinnamon filling with a cinnamon and honey glaze.
