Chambers Pillar (aka Idracowra and Etikaura) is a sandstone formation located 160kms south of Alice Springs. It rises about 50m from the surrounding plain. John McDouall Stuart was the first European to sight the pillar in April 1860. Stuart named the pillar for James Chambers, one of his SA sponsors. From the Picturesque Atlas of Australia (1886-1888). Includes a framing wreath of Sturt's Desert Rose, possibly the work of Ellis Rowan.,
