Wednesday, 17 May 2017 Term 2, Week 5 Dear families Congratulations to students in Room 5 and Miss McMillan for leading our Mothers Day Liturgy and to Ms Nicky Coleman and mums for our morning tea. It was fantastic to see so many of our mums in attendance. Special thanks to our Parents and friends Association for organising our Mothers Day stall which was a huge success-over 330 gifts were purchased with the profits from the stall being donated to the OLSH nuns. I would also like to acknowledge and thank our mums- Leanne Brennan, Rebecca Reardon, Clalia Mar, Koula Saroglou and Kathy Mavros for coordinating the stall. Ms Nikki Farrell will be taking some well-deserved Long Service Leave from Monday 5th June through to the end of term, returning to school on Monday 24th July. Ms Pascale Zufferey will be replacing Ms Farrell during her absence . Included with this weeks newsletter is another great parenting article from Michael Grose which reinforces the importance of consistency when dealing with behaviour. Leadership ProgramMiss Sanders and Miss Tagan are attending the Middle Leaders Formation Program this week 17-19 May, part of which is the implementation of an action Leadership project on their return. The project is facilitated by the Queensland Educational Leadership Institute (QELi). Families are reminded that school photos are scheduled for Tuesday, 30th May. All students are required to wear full school uniform on that day including black shoes and white socks. Attached to this weeks newsletter are 2 draft policies; one for birthdays and another draft policy on Parent/Carer Code of conduct. These policies have been developed in consultation with staff, P & F and School Board. Parents are encouraged to provide any feedback or comments on these policies prior to our next School Board meeting on 25th May. Thank youOn behalf of our school and Community of Learners I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Luke Bayetto and Shaneen Tilmouth who volunteered their time over the weekend to transform the Community of Learners fairy garden. Thank you! The gardens look magnificent.
