Cassia Two Thursday 18th August, 7pm, Cassia 2 - there is an information evening about the wonder filled curriculum in the Steiner School. If you still have decisions to make regarding your childs continuing journey into the primary school or have questions, this is a good evening to attend, as Early Childhood teachers share about education in the early years, Brian our principal will be giving an overview of teaching and learning in the primary school years and parents will share on how the journey has been from their perspective and even into high school. A quick reminder to mark in your diary: Thursday 25th August, 7pm Cassia 1 : Nurturing our childrens senses - a combined Early Childhood workshop for parents in the early years from playgroup to transition. Please come if you can. Please remember that class one readiness games occur in the last week of this term and first week term 4. If your child is going into class one in 2017 or is a cusp child could you please make your holiday plans around these dates? Spring festival is on Friday the 30th of September (week 10) - starting at 8.30, until approximately 10.30 - 11.00. Please keep this time free for an happy time with your child and his/her class. The children go home after the festival. A window into class: Monday walks and bush play continue to be very grounding and after some high energy, the children become engrossed in nature and play. Our outdoor play is very energetic and rich with children skipping to songs and verses, busy hands making swords, play in two small tents and planting little gardens. All of these skills show how the children are growing up, as they plan together and also extend themselves. Inside the children have some time in 4 groups to start the day, cooking or building or creating landscapes and stories with toys or engaging with all their senses in a special senses task. I have noticed that this group time has helped the children make new friends, supports their confidence in trying new things and broadens repertoire of play. Soup and quiche day are a highlight everyone is relishing the delicious smells and tastes. Thanks so much for fresh tasty ingredients! Helpers needed: Please help if you can - with making orange juice icy poles, teaching finger knitting and craft, cooking.please put your name on the helper slot.
