Description
This study applies maritime archaeological practice and theory to the analysis and interpretation of one sewn bark canoe and two dugout canoes collected from Melville Island during the early portion of the twentieth century. The aim of this study is to further the understanding of Indigenous watercraft through the use of maritime archaeology recording methods. How can the archaeological recording and analysis of Indigenous watercraft contribute to our understanding of Melville Island canoe building traditions and use?,
