Made available via the Publications (Legal Deposit) Act 2004 (NT)., The National Aboriginal Education Committee is a nineteen member all-Aboriginal (1) Committee. It was established in March 1977 to advise the Commonwealth Minister for Education and his Department on the educational needs of Aboriginal people and the most appropriate ways of meeting these needs. The members of the Committee come from all States, including Tasmania and also from the Torres Strait Islands. Members are selected onto the Committee for 'their experiences in formal education and also for their value as conmunity resource personnel whether residing in a traditional or non-traditional community.,
