Jemena Northern Gas Pipeline Pty Ltd (Jemena) proposes to construct and operate a high-pressure underground gas pipeline from Warrego (near Tennant Creek), Northern Territory to Mount Isa, Queensland The pipeline would be approximately 622 km in length, approximately 457 km in the Northern Territory. The NGP Project includes burying the 12-inch gas pipeline, construction of compressor stations at Warrego and Mount Isa, and three main line valve and five cathodic protection stations facilities at locations along the pipeline. The construction footprint will comprise a 30 m wide pipeline construction Right of Way and temporary facilities to support construction including accommodation camps, access tracks, additional works areas, and water supply bores and dams. The NGP Project has been declared a controlled action under EPBC Act Section 75. The controlling provision is listed threatened species and communities (s18 and s18A) and the identification number for this action is EPBC 2015/7569. The Australian Government Department of the Environment and Energy has determined the Project will be assessed by Public Environment Report (PER). The Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (NT EPA) has decided that the Project requires assessment under the EAA at the level of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Jemena has prepared a single document, referred to as the draft PER/draft EIS for the NGP Project, to satisfy the requirements of both the EPBC Act and the EAA. The draft PER/draft EIS for the NGP Project can be viewed at the NT EPA webpage at: www.nt.gov.au/envirocomment and http://jemena.com.au/industry/pipelines/northern-gas-pipeline.
