Jess Budarick, Brodie Carroll, Jack Clifford, William Dryden, Julian Punsalang, Thomas Watego and Keenan Waterbury have been selected in the Under 15s NT Titans squad. IN EARLY April, a selected under 15's Rugby League team from Katherine High School travelled up to Darwin to compete in the Northern Territory Titans Rugby League representative trials. Over this two day trial our boys played some great Rugby League which illustrated all the hard work and effort the boys have been putting in for each other at training. With each game we played it was evident that our boys were well structured and disciplined, with the necessary skills to overcome and compete with our opponents. From the five games we played we won three, lost one and drew one. Across all five games we played, our boys only let in six tries and scored thirteen which is a testament to the hard work we have done on our defence and our attacking structure. At the conclusion of the second day, an under 15's Northern Territory Titans representative squad of 25 was announced seeing seven of our boys being selected. These seven boys were Jess Budarick, Brodie Carroll, Jack Clifford, William Dryden, Julian Punsalang, Thomas Watego and Keenan Waterbury. With these selections Katherine High School had one of the highest representations for this squad. These boys will now begin their Northern Territory Titans training here in Katherine and in Darwin. These training sessions will be in preparation for them to make the final team of 20 players to travel down to Canberra in mid-June to compete in the Combined Affiliated State (CAS) team trials. In conjunction to the training and being selected in the final NT team, a considerable financial cost will be incurred by the boys in order for them to attend this tour. To support our Katherine Rugby League boys and this opportunity, I was hoping that as a local community we could offer some support which would ease the cost to the boys and their families. It would be disappointing to see these boys being selected in the final NT team and not be able to attend and represent Katherine due to financial reasons. If you would like any further information regarding how you can offer extra support to these Katherine Rugby League players, please contact Rodney Cremona on (08) 89738200 or rodney.cremona@ntschools.net. Local rugby players selected into NT squad WELL, this weekend we saw some of our local drivers go interstate and Alice Springs to race. Tom Pfenning and Holly Kokogoli went to Kunnunera this weekend. Tom got a first, second and third, young Holly got three first and a second in the womens class. Well done guys, good racing. We are going to have some serious action this year I think with these drivers in our bomber class and our new comers. Young Colin Menzies went to Alice Springs. He had a bit of a confrontation with the wall, better luck next weekend in Tennant Creek. This long weekend we have Brett and Raymond Thomsen, Tom, Holly in the bomber section and Raymond in the juniors, heading down to Tennant Creek for two nights of racing. Colin Menzies in the streekstocks, just keep away from the wall. Good luck to you guys, watch out Tennant - Katherine is coming. Dont forget our opening night is June 29, and we are still lookng for volunteers. Thank you to all those people who supported our sausage sizzle, keep an eye open, we will be doing a couple more in the near future. For any enquiries dont hesitate to call Brett Thomsen on 0427 187 525.
