10 NEWS SUNDAY JULY 31 2016 NTNE01Z01MA - V1 A 4.5m saltwater crocodile chomps on a dead crocodile in the Corroboree Billabong last Saturday. Pictures : JASON TOLHURST ITS a croc-eat-croc world in the Corroboree Billabong. Darwin man Jason Tolhurst captured this 4m saltie crowing down on his fellow reptile last Sunday. Mr Tolhusrt said the croc didnt seem to be too perturbed by the boat hanging around. He didnt want to let go of that croc, he said. He wasnt really scared of us. Crocs scaly snappy meal Saltie snack for this cannibal crocodile It was hard to tell but the other croc would have been about 3m. Hed either been shot or been in a fight. Corroboree Billabong, part of the Mary River Wetlands, is said to have the largest concentration of saltwater crocodiles in the world. Jason and his mate Karl Jakel had gone out to show Jasons five year-old son, Joshua, some crocodiles. Its the first time he has seen crocs in the wild and then we came across this, he said. He (Joshua) loved it we saw 19 all up that day. Its not the first time a cannibal croc has been caught in those waters. One was captured on camera devouring the decapitated corpse of one of its brothers in murky waters near Corroboree Billabong in May. A fisho managed to film the 4m saltie drifting along chewing on a similar-sized beheaded beast before dragging it under the surface. It is unclear if the Hannibalinspired croc is the same one in both incidences. JILL POULSEN #MyCensus GET ONLINE ON AUGUST 9. Share your #MyCensus moment.
