Public consultation on the introduction of a new residential rating structure for properties within the suburb of Marlow Lagoon for 2016/17 is still open for feedback. The proposed rating structure for Road works progress in Palmo ROADS around Palmerston will be closed from today as stage two of the Boulevard redevelopment progresses. The Boulevard from Roystonea Ave to Kilgour Lane, including Palmerston Circuit, is expected to reopen soon. Road works will then move to the area from Frances Dr to Hillson St. The Boulevard will be closed from near the ANZ Bank and Frances Dr will be closed at the Mansfield St intersection. These roads are expected to be closed from today until mid-September. Access will be maintained to all businesses during road works. Access to the Hillson St car park and the recreation centre car park will be from Palmerston Circuit. Access to the library, rear of Marlow Lagoon properties will see a valuation-based differential rate being established and set at 0.350971 per cent for 2016/17, with a minimum rate set at $1177, excluding the waste charge which shall remain the same as the rest of the city. The proposed multiplier (0.350971 per cent) has been calculated to limit the potential rate increases for rural residential properties in Marlow Lagoon. Council is eager to receive feedback from the community on their thoughts to this proposed rating introduction. All submissions must be received by council by 5pm tomorrow, July 20, for consideration. Visit palmerston.nt.gov.au to keep up to date on major project updates and events.
