24 FRONTIER WEDDINGS & BABIES SUNDAY JUNE 12 2016 NTNE01Z01MA - V1 Hitched & hatched Recently married, or just welcomed a new baby to the family? To have your story appear in Frontier, email your pics and details to firstname.lastname@example.org CARLEEN VANDA, 43 CRAIG MITCHELL, 43 Carleen and Craig first met years ago back in school, where they were good friends. Life led them in separate directions and they both married other people, but after separating from their respective partners they reconnected over Facebook and met up in Darwin. We have not parted since the first re-encounter, other than for me to go back home and pack my things, Carleen said. The pair opted for a casual wedding surrounded by their closest friends and family at home. We only had our children as the official bridal party, however my five closest friends since school and two from interstate stood on the stairs and handed me a flower as I made my way to Craig, and this became my bouquet, Carleen said. I was not going to have anyone walk me down the aisle, but as I got to the bottom of the stairs my daughter announced she was going to walk with me. Carleen said the day was super special and their youngest children were thrilled at the opportunity to dress up. They were most happy about their outfits and often said they could not wait to get dressed up, she said. When we asked are you happy we will be a family? they would say yes, but we already are, so our outfits are more exciting. After the wedding at home the pair headed to Bali to relax into married life. We stayed at a beautiful hotel called the Niksoma in Legian, Carleen said. We had a lovely villa suite and all the lovely little luxuries of a honeymoon suite flowers on arrival and a big love heart of rose petals on the bed. It was right on the beach and we had breakfast looking out over the water each morning. We did nothing but sit on a recliner, read and relax, a bit of shopping and a few nice dinners, but mostly we were on the beach or at the water park.
