A filmed version of Emerald City will be shown at Browns Mart on Friday Razor wit on display SYDNEYS chardonnay sipping socialites will be examined in a film shown in Darwin. Emerald City was written by celebrated and much-produced playwright David Williamson. It delves into the unseen sides of the television industry in Sydney during the 80s. Williamsons fast-paced dialogue and social critique of Sydneys social scene is full of humour and killer one-liners sure to entertain. Fading screenwriter Colin is not long in Sydney before hes seduced by its obsession with success. Teaming up with well connected hack writer Mike, Colin finds himself in a tug of war between artistic ambition and big bucks. Fame and fortune not to mention Mikes criminally hot girlfriend are up for grabs. Sharp-edged, satirical and accusatory, Emerald City lays into the materialism of the 1980s with a razor wit. This cinema presentation was filmed live on stage at the Griffin Theatre, and will be on for one night only at Browns Mart Theatre this Friday, May 27, 7pm. Book online, brownsmart.com.au.
