Sustainable Water Use | 3 Labors Record Rolled out Water Allocation Planning, a comprehensive water planning program to sustainably manage water resources, protect water dependent ecosystems and drive regional development; Funded Central Australian Waterwise Rebates; Put in place the science, planning and tough controls necessary to protect the Daly River; Established rebates for water tanks across the Territory; Opposed dams on the Daly and Elizabeth River; Amended the Water Act so that public is notified of water extraction applications; Established community based water advisory committees; and Established strategic Indigenous reserves to ensure Indigenous landholders arent locked out of access to water resources. CLPs Record Water policy which ignores science, over-allocates water, gives water to their mates without a transparent process; Refusing to prosecute illegal land clearing in sensitive catchment areas; Dismantled community based water advisory committees; Ignored Indigenous aspirations by removing strategic Indigenous reserves; Lost a case in the Supreme Court when they didnt follow the Water Act provisions; and Actively considering large scale dams again. Not only is the CLP water policy damaging our unique environment, it has damaged business confidence and investor certainty, destroyed trust in Government processes and cost the Territory jobs.
