This Annual Report was produced by the Strategic Services Division of Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education. We would like to thank all of those who have assisted in its production, particularly photographers and the students and staff depicted in their photos, who we are unable to individually acknowledge. Published June 2009. Editing and project management CREATIVE TERRITORY Design and layout WWW.SPROUT.COM.AU The Batchelor Institute logo was designed by Isobel Windi, a Teacher Education student, from Central Australia. It combines elements from both Centralian and Top End motifs symbolising the coming together of Aboriginal peoples. The original drawing, stylised to form the logo, represents four people sitting around a camp fi re telling stories to each other and, in doing so, sharing knowledge. The logo uses the Aboriginal colours and embraces their symbolic meanings. Black represents the Aboriginal people past, present, future. Yellow represents the sun, the giver of life. Red represents the earth, red ochre, and spiritual relationship with the land.
