10 Club Projects 2014-15 Recurring Projects Individual Projects in 14-15 Police Officer of the Year Award (Paul Simon) $1,200 This is the amount currently allocated in the cash flow projection for this annual award. Normally presented in September of each year by the Administrator at Government House, it has been running since 1991. Humanity in Motion (Iain Smith) $875 120 Humanity in Motion books produced by Rotary down under were distributed to politicians, Darwin city councillors and key private organisations such as lawyers, doctors, dentists in November 2014. Ian MacGregor English Awards (Mick Myers) $2,500 Commenced in 2001, this was split into two awards in 2011: Excellence in English Studies ($1500) Excellence in English Communications ($1000). Awards are presented in February of each year. Investment in Rotary Foundation (Treasurer) $15,000 This will mature in July 2017 and will be then valued at $30,000 Darwin High School Community Service Awards (Ray Fauntleroy) $1,500 The number of this award can vary from year to year, but each is worth $500. Normally presented late November and early December of each year. Further five year update of fifty year club history (Iain Smith) $3,000 In early 2014 the club received a $1000 NT History Grant from the NT government as a contribution to the cost of printing updated copies of the club history. This project was finalised in June 2015. The Beat (Mick Myers) $6,000 For over 30 years the Rotary Club of Darwin and the Beat Foundation have joined forces for this annual presentation in Darwin. Held in September of each year, club members assist in the running of the various presentations over the three days that they are on and three club representatives sit on the board of the Beat Foundation. Belyuen The Viking Project (Peter Hopton) $8,000 This is the amount left in this years budget allocation. Its not known at this stage if the club intends to support more funds towards the project in 15/16. RC of Darwin Sports Foundation (Wayne Nicholls) Has its own discreet fund various grants to be decided by the responsible committee. Grants can be made at any time during the Rotary year. Youth Exchange Programme (Andrew Pinnell) $1,600 This is a major annual commitment that the club has undertaken for well over 25 years. RC of Darwin Website (Iain Smith) $950 Created in January 2014, this website was named in February 2015 as the best in district 9550, which has 44 clubs. The funds allocated are basically for periodic maintenance of structure. Shannons Motorbike Extravaganza (John Palamountain) $16,850 Held on 15 February 2015, $16,850 was raised for the NT Leukaemia Foundation.
