12 NATION FRIDAY MAY 22 2015 NTNE01Z01MA - V1 Sex abuse victims accused BALLARAT: A bishop told abuse victims they were trying to destroy the Catholic Church and in 40 years they would all be dead while the church would endure, the royal commission has heard. Victim Andrew Collins told the commission Ballarat Bishop Paul Bird told him in 2013 that if the church had to pay an amount they were discussing to every survivor it would go bankrupt. Bishop Bird told us that we were intent on destroying his church, Mr Collins told the commissions Ballarat hearing. He said: Andrew, you need to understand something: the church has endured for thousands of years and in another 40 years or so you people will all be dead and this will be forgotten about and the church will endure for thousands of years more. Mr Collins and fellow Ballarat abuse survivor Peter Blenkiron had met with Bishop Bird to talk about financial compensation for victims. They asked the bishop to pay for the difference $252 a week between the disability support pension and the pension paid to returned servicemen. Guy Sebastian during rehearsals for the Eurovision Song Contest Tough draw for Guy GUY Sebastian has drawn a short straw in the Eurovision Song Contest, landing in the less preferred first half of the competition. But according to Aussie Eurovision judge Richard Wilkins, it wont matter where Sebastian is placed as complex relationships within the European community could see a wildcard win. Maybe our Guy could be the Steven Bradbury of Eurovision, he said from the secret judging bunker in Australia. You know, they all take each other out. Europe is such a fractured place. How will the Netherlands be voting for Russia? Or the French be voting for the English? There are a lot of difficult relationships over there to say the least ... I think for Guy its fantastic. Sebastian took to the stage yesterday for a second dress rehearsal and said he felt good after performing his selfpenned Tonight Again with a toned-down stage show that he said was a little over-the-top during the first stage rehearsal. 1 L I T R E CHECK OUT IN-STORE FOR MORE COMBOS CREATE YOUR COMBO ACROSS BEER, WINE & SPIRITS Jim Beam White Label Bourbon, Bundaberg UP Rum OR Gordons Dry Gin 1 LitreJameson Irish Whiskey, Johnnie Walker Black Label Scotch Whisky OR Bulleit Bourbon 700ml Johnnie Walker Red Label & Cola OR Bundaberg UP Rum & Cola Cans 24x375ml Hardys Tintara McLaren Vale, Craftsman Reserve, Jacobs Creek Double Barrel OR Yarra Burn Vintage Pinot Noir Chardonnay 750ml# Baily & Baily Folio, Evans & Tate Classic, Jamiesons Run Limestone Coast OR Toi Toi Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 750ml# ANY 3 FOR $33^ SAVE UPTO $1497 ANY 2 FOR $40^ SAVE UPTO $2198 24 CANS SAVE $ 11 $72 EACH Equates to $32.90 for 700ml AN Y 2 FOR SAVE UP TO $ 24 $94 700 ML SAVE UP TO $ 13 $43 EACH Victoria Bitter Block 30x375ml Cans OR James Boags Premium Lager Bottles 24x375ml Tooheys Extra Dry Bottles 24x345ml OR XXXX Summer Bright Lager Bottles 24x330ml 30 cans SAVE UP TO $ 11 $54 EACH XXXX Gold Blocks 30x375ml Cans 30 cans 2 CASES SAVE $ 14 $86 AN Y CASE S 2 SAVE $ 10 $84 TODAYS SPECIAL bws.com.au | Call 1300 138 297* We support the responsible service of alcohol.
