10 ENTERTAINMENT WEDNESDAY APRIL 1 2015 SUBE01Z01MA - V1 Public art on display A NEW exhibition opens at Tactile Arts on Thursday in conjunction with the launch of a unique public artwork. The Hearts & Rain exhibition will display passionate and stormy works by Tactile Arts members and will include ceramics, jewellery, glass, mixed media, photography and painting. The opening night will also see the new Hearts & Rain mosaic unveiled. The permanent piece adorning the exterior wall of the gallery has been created by Sarah Body, ceramic and glass artists, and local community groups. The design is an interpretation of a painting by Marita Albers and features more than 1000 handmade tiles created by locals. The exhibition runs until April 19. Spyglass Gypsies will play the Darwin Railway Club on April 12. In tune with France A TOUCH of France will arrive at the Railway Club when the Spyglass Gypsies roll into town. Combining traditional French gypsy songs with swinging originals, the tunes combine the lyrical sounds of the accordion, clarinet, saxophone, double bass and gypsy guitars. Established in 2010 by Richard Ashby and Loretta Palmeiro, Spyglass Gypsies came about from the duos love of jazz. We love the history and traditions of Gypsy Jazz music, Ashby said. But we also love contributing to the genre with our own compositions, bringing a modern slant to the traditional style. The group, which also includes Cameron Jones, Andrew Scott and Shannon Haritos, have performed all over the country, including shows at the Opera House and Brisbane Jazz Club. They are also regulars at jazz festivals around Australia. Spyglass Gypsies will play at the Railway Club on Sunday, April 12, from 6.30pm. Tickets $16.50 from stickytickets.com.au Your week ahead with Tarot Master Manfred Zander SUN STARS aries Mar 21 - apr 20 Love: the end of worries; happiness is returning now and past conflicts will be forgotten.
