24 LIFESTYLE SUNDAY JANUARY 25 2015 NTNE01Z01MA - V1 V1 - TELE01Z01BS b+s 13beauty With donna duggan Y our face isnt the only part of your body that shows signs of ageing. Often, its the fine and exposed skin on your neck, chest and hands that can betray your age as these areas are harder to conceal and commonly overlooked in most beauty routines. Theres no point spending hundreds on skincare and makeup for your face if your neck, chest and hands look wrinkly and skin damaged. Protect these areas by applying your regular moisturiser and sunscreen, and pay them special attention with these tips. Hands The skin on the back of your hands is thin and its the area thats most exposed to harsh soaps, detergents and the sun, so it makes sense that they can show the signs of ageing faster than the rest of your body. Theres no real secret to youthful-looking hands other than wearing gloves when youre doing the washing up, moisturising after you wash your hands and always applying sunscreen when youre heading outside, particularly if youre driving your car. If you dont like the texture of hand cream, try a specially-formulated night serum. Products to try: (1) Paulas Choice Resist Ultimate Anti-Aging Hand Cream ($22, 1800 602 574). (2) Aveda Hand Relief Night Renewal Serum ($49, 1800 706 377). dcolletage The skin on your dcolletage is particularly delicate and prone to premature ageing. Sun damage and neglect can leave it pigmented, crepey and wrinkly. Obviously, preventing damage is more cost effective than treating it, but wearing scarves or clothes with high necklines isnt always ideal. Its important to include the chest area in your skincare regimen (don't forget to cleanse, exfoliate, moisturise and apply sunscreen to this delicate skin). When applying your skincare, use gentle upward strokes from your breast to your chin. There are also some speciality products you can use while you sleep, such as Wrinkles Schminkles stick-on silicon pads that help keep the dcolletage area taut. If blemishes are an issue, try a gentle peel to remove build-up of dead skin. Also avoid spraying perfume on this area during the day as most fragrances contain alcohol, which makes skin susceptible to sun damage. Products to try: (6) Wrinkles Schminkles Dcolletage & Chest Smoothing Kit ($65.95, 0414 655 144). (7) Natio Renew Line & Wrinkle Neck & Dcolletage Cream ($24.95, (03) 9415 9911).
