SANDERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL Building the Future News and Views Page 2 STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL The Student Representative Council have had a very busy semester. Activities included: Organising a school disco in week 8 of Term 2. The disco was well attended and a good time was had by all. SRC members promoted the event in their PCGs and assisted with the set up and pack down. Visiting our Primary Feeder Schools to talk to Year 6 classes about how our school operates, its values, its subjects, its teachers and its facilities. Thanks to Jennifer Zaffiorou, Linsay McGregor, Chloe Sae-Now, Juwan Mandadige and Charlotte Uwizeyimana for presenting at the Schools. Hosting a day with Year 6 SRC students from our feeder primary schools. The focus of the day was on team work and developing leadership skills. Sanderson Middle School students proved to be excellent coaches and mentors for the younger visitors. YEAR 6 ENRICHMENT CLASSES During this term, 30 bright Year 6 students from our feeder primary schools Enrichment classes. 10 students completed 10 week courses in Japanese, Science and Woodwork. Ms Tammy Appo led our science students through a range of practical experiments with the help of some year 8 Sanderson mentors. Ms Kylie Cuff taught beginner Japanese to some excited students. Mr Geoff Yeates taught woodwork to 10 students who created SpongeBob SquarePants doorstops. In Term 3, Enrichment classes will be offered in Science, Japanese, Robotics and Maths.
