MEDIA RELEASE Michael Gunner SHADOW MINISTER FOR POLICE, FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES Firefighters put their lives on the line for Territorians every day. We should be doing everything we can to ensure that firefighters are taken care of. The Blain by-election will give the residents of Blain the opportunity to send the message that they will not stand the atrocious treatment of firefighters by the CLP Government. Jock McLeod, a Territory firefighter for 47 years, is battling cancer and has had his compensation claim knocked back by TIO due to the CLP Governments refusal to do the right and decent thing. The CLP Government needs to start looking after Territorians, Mr McLeod said. Firefighters are doing their bit to look after Territorians. The CLP Government needs to come to the table and start valuing these people and their professions. Media contact: Cathryn Tilmouth 0427 500 667
