Meeting their need to speed with ... I know you can go as fast as you like but 110km/h is a comfortable cruising speed and thats what I sit on, Hoefler said when asked what speed he rides at. Pippas trike is striking with a skull emblem at the front with the paintwork glistening with a coating of glitter embedded in it. She has been riding for about five years. My husband rides a Goldwing and I always used to get bored being a passenger so I decided to get my licence for the trike and my husband works away a lot so got involved and I became a Ulyssean 10 years ago, Pippa said. She is from the Fremantle club and the AGMs have taken her around the country but for the moment, Pippa and her mates will be riding down the highway and steer it up at the drags. case of see what happens at the drags event. Ill come out and have a look at whats happening ... last time I was here we did not have all this entertainment and its good, really good and very well organised, Dalby said. He will put his GL 1800 trike through its paces and has been cruising the good life in his pride and joy for two years. A knee ailment prompted Dalby to ride a trike after giving up his BMW. Peter Molloy hails from England and said his trike which he built in 1988 is wellequipped. He came to Alice specifically to compete in the drags. I put a Turbo Subaru engine in it and the fastest I have done in it was 220km/h, Molloy said. He has been a Ulysses member for six years and made the trip from Bribie Island near Brisbane on Monday. For Dalby Dan, it will be a Nick Kossatch SPORTS REPORTER Ill come out and have a look at whats happening ... last time I was here we did not have all this entertainment Rita Pixie Logan, seen in the Bangtail Muster, is one of the many colourful Ulysses members RIDING a motorbike was the furthest thing from Rita Pixie Logans mind for almost 50 years in fact she was scared of them. That all changed when she went, as a passenger, on a HOG charity ride as a memorial for a workmate who had laughed at her fears. She was hooked and a group of girlfriends bought her six hours of riding lessons. On Ritas first solo ride, she didnt understand the contours of the road corners and dropped the bike. As she lay on ground a stranger rode up and offered to help. He was wearing the Ulysses old man logo with the motif Grow Old Disgracefully and I thought that was for me, Rita said. I have been riding for 11 years and in Ulysses for 11 years. There has been a fantastic response from Ulysses members and I love it. There is a spirit among members. I have six brothers and it felt like being at home. Included in her travels have been two six-month solo trips around Australia and five months riding in Europe. Now retired. Rita works two weeks a year helping organise the clubs annual meetings. She arrived in Alice Springs five weeks ago to have a good look around. Rita, who lives in Brisbane when not on the road, is the assistant co-ordinator of the volunteers, and assistant ride co-ordinator. This latter position has involved arranging 10 rides a day for members to head out and see the scenic Centralian country. Destinations include Glen Helen, Ormiston Gorge, Hermannsburg, Standley Chasm and Ross River. The rides leave at different times during the day with lunch and morning ta stops. They have proven popular with almost 200 riders indicating they were going out on Wednesday but more showed up when the ride left.
