During the period 1 July - 15 August 2011, the NT Government funded the Water Quality Testing for Top End Rural Area program (the program) for rural households. A range of metals were included in the testing (refer to Section 2.2 Sample Analysis). The purpose of the program was to address concerns raised regarding drinking water quality following reports of suspected elevated arsenic concentrations in some private bores in the Litchfield and Coomalie Shires. The program was offered as a one-off service to encourage households to establish a regular testing regime.,
