28 ENTERTAINMENT TUESDAY MAY 6 2014 NTNE01Z01MA - V1 Kerr-t Miranda baulks at hosts family query SYDNEY: Model Miranda Kerr gave a cringe-worthy interview on Sunrise yesterday morning, clearly unimpressed with questions asked about her family by co-hosts David Koch and Natalie Barr. As soon as the topic was broached, Kerr, 31, looked off camera to her publicist and smirked before delivering a generic and safe response. Ive seen my family as soon as Ive arrived and it is so good to be back and spend some time with them, Kerr told the Sunrise hosts. When Barr pushed the topic further, asking whether her family regrets being interviewed by ABCs Family Confidential, which saw them reveal they hadnt seen their daughter in at least a year, leading to a rift, Kerr gave some attitude, saying: Thats a question youd have to ask them. A frustrated Barr then asked if she wished they hadnt filmed the episode, to which Kerr replied: It is what it is, you cant really change whats happened so. I dont think there was any ill intention, put it that way. The interview was panned on social media, with many commenting that Kerr looked uncomfortable being asked the obvious questions. In an interview this week, the Aussie model opened up about her relationship with her parents and addressed the comments they made in the ABC documentary which aired in February this year. She said she feels sorry for her family and that they were naive to give the interview in which they lamented the loss of their daughter to the LA celebrity scene. That was kind of done without me knowing about it, and its funny because Id invited them over many times throughout the year and theyd been too busy, Kerr says of the interview. My dad and my brother work for me, and my mum has her own organic line now, and I think the media spun that on them; they werent really trying to do anything, theyre just a little naive, unfortunately. She said she feels sorry for her family because they got sucked into a situation and things get edited. I was like, Dont do it! Dont do it! And of course they love and miss their daughter and sister, just like I love and miss them. Ill be seeing them soon, which will be good. In the past year Kerr has gone from Aussie darling to public enemy number one. Her separation from Orlando Bloom, her husband and father of three-year-old Flynn, started a barrage of stories suggesting she was dating friend Erica Baxters ex-husband James Packer. Not true, says Kerr. Im not in a relationship with anyone. Then there were the ru mours that she was released from her contract with David Jones due to her being difficult to work with. This is something that Kerr refutes saying the career change was a conscious decision on her behalf. Model Miranda Kerr, pictured with her son Flynn after arriving in Sydney from Los Angeles, gave guarded answers to questions from the Sunrise team I think the media spun that on them ... theyre just a little naive LONDON: Elizabeth Hurley has told for the first time how she struggled to get over her split from Shane Warne, but is now blooming. The actress and businesswoman, 48, who has posed in a swimsuit from her new collection, says she continues to be fond of her ex-fiance. In an interview with Hello! magazine, Hurley said: Love isnt a switch that you can turn on or off at will and of course I still love him we are part of each others history. Hurley and the 44-year-old Australian cricketer turned commentator dated for three years. We finally parted ways in November and it was a very sad time for both of us, Hurley said. I struggled for a while but feel in a very good place today. In fact, both profession ally and personally everything is blooming. The future of the 13-bedroom property they had been renovating, Donnington Hall near Ledbury in Herefordshire, was still up in the air she said. Hurley is now dating hedge fund tycoon turned wildlife photographer David Yarrow, whom she calls a man of integrity and charm. Takei sure GLAAD theyre around NEW YORK: Star Trek actor George Takei had high praise for the organisation that honoured him with a top award for his gay rights activism on Saturday, insisting officials have given young homosexuals role models and hope. Takei received the Vito Russo Award at the 25th annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York and used his acceptance speech to shine the light on the work of the group. In the 25 years since its founding, GLAAD has dramatically changed American society for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people, the openly gay star said. I know, because as a closeted kid growing up in Los Angeles ... all I saw of gays and lesbians in movies and television, or heard on radio, were caricatures of people who were mocked and laughed at, or pitied, or hated. The media stripped us of all humanity and made us into pathetic stereotypes. The media then was a soulcrushing monster. GLAAD took on this formidable beast with its media savvy, political acumen and the power of its advocacy and transformed the media into a powerful force for change. Hurley reveals pain of Warnie split Oops, Brit broke my nose, says clip dancer LOS ANGELES: A dancer has alleged that Britney Spears accidentally broke her nose when the singer was in a dishevelled and confused state while working on a video clip. TMZ reports Dawn Noel (pictured) will file a lawsuit against Spears today, alleging she has not been compensated for her medical expenses after the accident in August last year. Noel was rehearsing with Spears and other dancers in a California studio for the video for the song Work Bitch when the singer allegedly hit her in the face during a dance move. Spears was in a dishevelled and confused state TMZ quoted Noel as saying. Noel initially tried to continue working but after half an hour she had to stop. She says she consulted a doctor that afternoon and was told there was a fracture in her nasal bone. Spears management apparently offered to pay for the dancers medical expenses but Noels lawyer Sark Ohanian claims that no money has been forthcoming. Representatives for Spears have yet to comment. Coldplay singer and actor pash LOS ANGELES: Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin have shared a passionate smooch on TV. Saturday Night Live host Garfield and Martin, the shows musical guest, locked lips as the singer attempted to show the actor and his real-life and movie girlfriend Emma Stone how to kiss as they prepared for a fictional SpiderMan scene. Stone puckered up for the test smooch and mocked surprise and disappointment when Martin demonstrated with her boyfriend instead. The rocker even donned a blonde wig for the big pash.
