If you were at the Cox Country Club on the Anzac Day weekend you would have seen just that. The name Classic Holden Car Club perhaps gives away where the allegiances lie, but both Holden and Ford car owners had their favourites on show. George Shepherd club Secretary brought along his modified 1964 EH Holden. He has owned the car for 16 years and has managed to spend all of his pocket money fixing it up during that time. All the work was done in Adelaide, there was no one in Darwin that would do it to the standard that I wanted. Shepherd warned not to be fooled by the exterior because that is where the original parts stop. Under the hood it is a modern beast that is entirely made up of commodore parts Its all commodore running gear with an EH body. Shepherd mainly takes the car out on the weekends wh i ch a lways a t t rac ts attent ion, most ly from people who had owned an EH and want to reminisce about the times they had in their own car. When asked about the grunt of the motor, Shepherd said he was nervously going to put the EH on the Hidden Valley racetrack on May 30 at a Ford versus Holden drag race. I want to see how fast it will go down the quarter mile. It has a supercharged V6 Commodore moto r which means it could go fast, I just don t know how fast The Classic Holden Car Club was formed in 2001 and its oldest car is a 1949 Holden FX. All cars in the club need to be at least 30 years old. Shepherd welcomed anyone who has a passion in Holden and Ford cars to join. Holden and Ford go head to head Top left to bottom: George Shepherd with his adored EH Holden; An older original EH Holden; Collection of auto treasures; A beautiful Ford Mustang.
