Vollie News Thursday 15th May 2014 Page 9 Did you know that the Northern Territory had its own anthem? Neither did I until told about it on Wednesday. Apparently, its been around since 2011, but not many people seem to know about it. It seems to have been the result of a competition run by the previous NT Labor government and won by Stephanie Harrison of Alice Springs. Thanks to Hailee Skinner for sending the words to Vollie News. Standing as one, Northern Territorian! Strong and free from the desert to the sea Red sand, blue sky, our spirit will never die We're proud to be from the Northern territory From the sea of Arafura To the rocks of Kata Tjuta From the centre to the Top End We have many faces We have come from many places That's what it means to be From the Northern Territory Stand as one, Northern Territorian! Strong and free from the desert to the sea Red sand, blue sky, our spirit will never die We're proud to be from the Northern Territory From our dreamtime stories To the pioneer's glory This place is full of history So we will stand together Endeavouring together That's what it means to be From the Northern Territory Stand as one, Northern Territorian! Strong and free from the desert to the sea Red sand, blue sky, our spirit will never die We're proud to be from the Northern Territory
