WEDNESDAY MARCH 19 2014 ENTERTAINMENT 31 V3 - NTNE01Z01MA Designers death puts Stones tour in doubt MELBOURNE: The Rolling Stones have cancelled their first Australian concert, scheduled for Perth today, after the death of Mick Jaggers fashiondesigner partner. Ticket holders for the Stones Australian concerts are fearful the whole tour will be called off in the wake of the death of LWren Scott. Perth radio station 96FM in its 8.30am news bulletin yesterday said todays concert in Perth had been cancelled. The cancellation was not confirmed until later in the day. Scott, a fashion designer whose clients included Madonna and Nicole Kidman, was found dead in her New York apartment on Monday morning. The Rolling Stones arrived in Perth on Monday for the Australian leg of their 14 On Fire tour to mark their 50th anniversary. There have been reports that Jagger is on his way to New York and that the Stones have left the Hyatt Perth. Scott left her rural Utah home as a teenager to become a model in Paris, then a top Hollywood stylist and finally a high-end fashion designer. A spokesperson requested privacy for her family and friends. Just last month Scott, who was believed to be 49 but had not disclosed her precise age, cancelled her London Fashion Week show, due to reported production delays. Jaggers representative said the singer was completely shocked and devastated by the news. Scott, whose elegant designs in lush fabrics were favoured by celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Penelope Cruz and first lady Michelle Obama, was a fixture on Jaggers arm since she met the Rolling Stones frontman in 2001. On red carpets, the striking 190cm designer towered over her famous boyfriend. In 2006, five years after they became a couple, Scott founded her eponymous label, with an initial collection based on the Little Black Dress. She became known for designs that had a vintage feel and bared little skin, like her famous headmistress dress, which was prim, with threequarter sleeves, but also closefitting and stylish. Madonna was one of those who wore the dress. This is a horrible and tragic loss, the singer said in a statement released by her publicist. Im so upset. I loved LWrens work and she was always so generous with me. Kidman and LWren were friends for 25 years and the Australian star is said to be devastated. Though her studio is based in London, Scott presented her shows in New York until recently. The runway shows were exclusive A-list affairs like few others. The grown-up child star upset producers and creator Chuck Lorre last year when he called the comedy filth and urged fans to stop watching it. Jones made the remarks in a video he filmed for a religious group to which he was attached. He was axed as a regular on the show and has yet to appear this season. Now studying in Colorado, the Christian actor has taken aim again at Two And A Half Men, this time in a TV interview in Houston, Texas, saying he was a paid hypocrite. The interview was part of Joness trip to the World Harvest Outreach Church in Houston, where he spoke about his faith as a SeventhDay Adventist. Jones said he felt bad for openly criticising Mr Lorre. I just totally insulted his baby and, to that degree, I am apologetic, but otherwise I dont regret saying what I said, he said. Two And A Half Men is shown in Australia on the Nine Network Kidmans boy says they're still close LOS ANGELES: Nicole Kidmans adopted son Connor Cruise has dismissed rumours suggesting he has became estranged from his actress mother in recent years. The 19-year-old was adopted in 1995 by Kidman and her now ex-husband Tom Cruise, along with his sister Isabella, who was taken in by the Hollywood couple two years earlier. Kidman now lives in Nash ville, Tennessee, with her husband Keith Urban and their two daughters, and Connor has rarely been seen with his mother over the past few years, prompting rumours of an estrangement between them. But the teenager is adamant he has a good relationship with the Oscar winner. I love my mum. I dont care what people say. I know that me and mum are solid. I love her a lot, he told Australias Womans Day magazine. My family means everything ... Family comes before everything else.
