NT NEWS. 39 P U B : NTNE-WS-DA-TE:4-FEGE:39 CO-LO-R: C-M Y-K Join the Congram line Andy Congram has caught three metre barra on the fly here he is with an 86cm fish caught sight-casting on the flats at Bynoe Harbour By HIRO NAKAMURA CHECKOUTHIROS BLOGS secretbarramundi.blogspot.com.au landbasedmeterybarramundiclub.blogspot.com.au one fish sight cast isworth ten caught blind I believe I heard that a great barramundi angler decided to leave Darwin. This coming run-off may be his last chance for catching a metrey barramundi before leaving Darwin. Im honored that I could become friends with Mr. Andy Congram. He has caught three metrey barramundi on the fly. I asked him some questions about his fishing. And then I received the following answers from Andy. l My biggest barra land based was 82cm in the Vic River. l I dont do much land based, generally only searching for permit along the beaches. l For targeting metreys in the run off I use a 10 weight rod, intermediate or 350-400 grain fly line, 40-60lb leader, and generally a fly called Fat Boy in chartreuse or white tied on a 8/0 Gamakatsu SL12s. Then its a matter of join the masses at one of the coastal creeks, or Shoal Bay, and cast til your arm nearly falls off! l Ill be in the Territory for another few months mate time to get another one or two big girls! l The last of those metreys was about three years ago. l I mostly sight fish the flats of Bynoe or Darwin Harbour, as I prefer to get away from other anglers, and one fish sight cast is worth ten caught blind I believe. l I might revisit the Territory in the future... plenty more species to target. l So far I have caught over 80 species on fly, I would like to account for more than 100 before 2014 is done that is my angling goal for this year. l Until I started my business three years ago, I used to fish every weekend fly only for the past 8 or 9 years. l I like to push myself into challenging fly fishing situations and set the bar pretty high. Thanks Andy! ntnews.com.au l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l FISHING ntnews.com.au l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l WEATHER
