2 PROPOSAL FOR CHANGE TO LIBRARY BORROWING SYSTEM AND READERS All books (Home Readers and Library Books) are borrowed for a 2 week period. Home Readers are generally returned and changed every day or two. Library Books are generally returned and changed every week or two. CURRENT SYSTEM- the two different kinds of books are tied together on the system. Therefore: if Library Book is overdue you cannot borrow a home reader or a library book if Home Reader is overdue you cannot borrow a home reader or a library book PROPOSED CHANGE will untie the two different kinds of books to some extent so that: if a Library book is overdue you cannot borrow another Library book but you can borrow a new Home Reader if a Home Reader is overdue you cannot borrow another Home Reader or a Library Book. DISPUTES: If a parent or caregiver disputes that a Home Reader is overdue, they can look for the book in the Home Reader boxes in the classroom. If it is found there, it can be returned by the classroom teacher and borrowing rights are automatically reinstated. If the Home Reader cannot be found there, the parent or caregiver can go to the Teacher Librarian or Library Assistant. Borrowing Rights can be reinstated only by the Teacher Librarian or Library Assistant, each of whom have the capacity to over-ride the system to allow loans to continue. Classroom teachers cannot over-ride the system. At this Friday's whole school assembly, we will be entertained by year 3 Winkler. We hope that you can join us at 9:15 a.m.
