Council operates automotive workshops at Angurugu, Gapuwiyak, Milingimbi, Milyakburra, Ramingining and Umbakumba. There has been a major focus throughout the year to tidy up Councils workshop facilities to bring them all into compliance with WH&S standards. Next year Council plans to undertake a major restructure of its automotive workshops business systems, processes, stock control and accounting practices in order to ensure their long term viability. The workshops at Angurugu, Gapuwiyak, Milingimbi and Ramingining provide full-time retail services to community residents, as well as maintaining Councils fleet. Council provides retail services at these locations because there are limited, or no alternative service providers. The facilities at Milyakburra and Umbakumba are operated periodically, via non-resident mechanics, and generally only service Councils fleet. FUEL DISTRIBUTION Council owns and operates retail fuel outlets at Gapuwiyak, Milingimbi and Umbakumba and also maintains fuel outlets at Galiwinku and Ramingining, for internal purposes only (non-retail). Council operated these outlets throughout the year, with minimal disruptions, although all of the associated infrastructure is old and tired. Fuel distribution objectives for next year include: Real time monitoring and adjustment of retail fuel prices. Investigating ways to achieve better value for money, through pooling purchasing power with other major fuel purchasers in the region. Prioritised upgrade of infrastructure. 3.2.4 enSure maintenanCe of Power anD water SuPPlieS. As per clause 3.2.1. 3.2.5 maintain anD uPGraDe Community CemeterieS. Shire Services Managers oversee routine maintenance and specific projects including the surveying and mapping of the plots at the Angurugu cemetery. The Shire has inspected a number of old Mission cemeteries and is seeking Heritage funding for essential works. OUTCOME 3.3 IMPROVED COMMUNITY LANDSCAPES. 3.3.1 initiate imProvementS to Community aPPearanCe anD Safety. Shire Services Managers have worked to improve the communities throughout the year. Activities have included CDEP supported installation of playground equipment in some communities. 3.3.2 maintain anD enhanCe ParkS, GarDenS anD oPen SPaCeS. Shire Services Managers routinely manage Parks & Gardens projects through various programs including CDEP.
