Description

Made available via the Publications (Legal Deposit) Act 2004 (NT)., This project was triggered by the need for an updated assessment of the resources hosted within the groundwater system underlain by the Koolpinyah Dolomite. Rapid development of both private and public water supplies over the past 30 years has led to increasing demand on the system. Some shallow bores are reported to be failing and in recent years Howard Springs, one of the system’s main natural outlets, has been running dry to towards the end of the dry season. Prior to development it rarely ceased to flow. This project aimed to better define the nature of the Koolpinyah Dolomite aquifer. Specifically, it sought to define the type of porosity and permeability, any layering of these within the Aquifer and the nature and extent of lateral discontinuities in permeability.,
