West Arnhem Wire - Fortnightly news in brief from Jabiru, Gunbalanya, Maningrida, Warruwi and Minjilang 6 The West Arnhem Wire | 31 October 2013 GUNBALANYA WATER CONSERVATION TEAM Manakgu, Sophia Nawirridgs, Josech Namarnyilks and Kathy Kerinauia. They have been working this year with household residents to teach people about their water supply in Gunbalanya, and how Power and Water looks after it; how to report leaks, and why its so important to do so; and how to be water-wise inside the home and outside in the garden. This project also looks at the data of water consumption and can identify where leaks are happening throughout the system. On Wednesday, 30th October, the Officers held a Water Conservation Day in the Gunbalanya Park to talk to people about the project, how to water your garden wisely and gave away free outdoor water saving items and sink plugs. This project has been done as a partnership with West Arnhem Shire Council, Power and Water Corporation, the Department of Housing and with the support of the Department of Community Services. Together we can make a real difference to stopping running water just going to waste by turning off taps, reporting leaks and watering the garden only in the morning or at night time. For more information please contact Kathryn Fuller, by email kathryn.fuller@ powerwater.com.au or call 8924 5211. saving items and sink plugs.
