Projects and Infrastructure - Opportunities The following projects have been identified for future consideration by Council: Youth Diversion Area - Gunbalanya Completion of new youth diversion area, including music facilities, sand dance area and cooking fire pits. CDEP construction trainee participants are receiving training while working on this project. Hole in the wall upgrade - Maningrida Refurbishment of Councils take away shop in Maningrida. Swimming pool accommodation - Jabiru Installation of on-site accommodation for swimming pool and gymnasium staff. Road improvements - Minjilang Roadworks and sealing at Six Mile Creek under the Federally funded Roads to Recovery program. Mechanical workshop fencing and upgrade - Warruwi Installation of secure fencing and upgrade of workshop site. Floodway and roadworks - Gunbalanya Construction of floodway, drainage and a paved footpath to allow convenient all weather access by residents of new housing subdivision to Gunbalanya town centre. This project is being funded under the Federal Governments Roads to Recovery program. Community Development Employment Projects staff accommodation - Gunbalanya, Minjilang and Warruwi Each community will have a demountable building installed to provide accommodation for newly funded CDEP Team Leader staff positions. Contractor compounds - Gunbalanya, Maningrida, Minjilang and Warruwi Secure storage sites will be established in each community for contractor equipment. Old Clinic upgrade - Minjilang Building to be converted into a community cultural centre with art and sewing facilities. The building will also serve as a venue for training presentations. Trainers accommodation - Maningrida Provision of accommodation facilities for visiting training providers. Toad Hall contractors accomodation - Gunbalanya Full refurbishment of flood-damaged existing building to provide accommodation for visiting contractors. Public library shelving - Jabiru Installation of new shelving and reorganisation of library collection throughout Jabiru public library. Shared excavator and grader - Minjilang and Warruwi Funding has been sourced for a new excavator and grader to be shared by the two communities. Oval upgrade - Gunbalanya Regrading of the community oval and the installation of irrigation infrastructure to improve the playing surface. Community Hall upgrade - Jabiru Refurbishment of this important community resource, including replacement of the ceiling, floor sanding and repainting throughout. Program Reports Page 61
