Picture: JUSTIN SANSON Giddy-up, its the Cup By DAMIEN McCARTNEY WELL, were five days down, and there are just three left in the 2013 Darwin Cup Carnival. Races have been run and won, money has been won and lost, champagne has flowed and beer has been drunk. Now, were at the pointy end of the racing carnival. Today is Colemans Printing Cup Day, with a six-race card and entertainment throughout the afternoon. Today is the day to go to if crowds arent really your thing. Featuring the $35,000, 1300m Colemans Printing Cup, this event is often the start of the Carnival for interstate visitors. On Saturday, the second-to last day of the 2013 carnival sees jockeys from across the country take on the best in the Palmerston Sprint. A full seven-race card will lift the excitement for both Cup Day and the Gala Ball on Saturday night. The largest outdoor Gala Ball in the southern hemisphere sees thousands of people from Darwin, Australia and overseas descend upon the lawns of Little Mindil for the annual event Darwins best black-tie ball. With entertainment for this year to be provided by Human Nature and Matt Hetherington, this is not a night to be missed. But finally, it all comes down to one day. On Monday, thousands will descend upon Flemington wait, no, Fannie Bay for the 2013 Carlton Mid Darwin Cup Day. Men, its time to pull a tie from the back of your cupboard and girls, its time to frock up for the biggest day on the Territorys racing calendar.
