Wild fire burning near the Rum Jungle Lake, which is an inaccessible area just outside the township of Batchelor, as a precaution the local rural fire brigade decided to make a fire break ahead of the fire front round the township itself using the slow burning technique. Over a 2-hour period large sections of bush where set alight leaving a thick cloud of choking smoke in the air and burn embers raining down on everything. During this time I was able to walk into the burning bush up wind and make a series of stunning images that recorded the amazing colours of the scrub as it went up in flames.,
