Financial Projections ________________________________________________________________________________________________ 39 TABLE 4.8: MINING AND PETROLEUM REVENUE 2002-03 2003-04 2004-05 2005-06 2006-07 Estimate Budget Forward Estimates $000 $000 $000 $000 $000 Royalties 39 300 41 300 38 300 38 934 39 513 Mineral 35 348 37 300 34 300 34 934 35 633 Petroleum 3 952 4 000 4 000 4 000 3 880 Mining and petroleum royalty revenue estimates incorporate: individual mining company projections of sales, prices and operating costs; changes to the mineral royalty regime as announced in this Budget; and no provision for any new mining projects, unless they have been formally approved and committed. Collections in 2002-03 rose significantly due to increased gold production and improved production values in other sectors. Growth in collections will continue in 2003-04 at more moderate levels. Collections in 2003-04 are expected to increase by 5.5 per cent due mainly to an additional $3.8 million arising from reducing the exploration expenditure deduction from 35 per cent to 25 per cent as provided in this Budget. More information on the mineral royalty revenue measures in the Budget is provided in Chapter 5. Mineral royalty collections are expected to decline in 2004-05 by 8.0 per cent due to the impact of an expected mine closure and grow moderately (1.8 per cent and 2.0 per cent) in 2005-06 and 2006-07. Petroleum royalty collections are expected to stay constant except for 2006-07 where a decline of 3.0 per cent is expected.
