And experts say 2013 is looking to be a good year. First National Real Estates 2013 Prop erty Market Outlook is based on a survey of the 400-plusmember network. The companys Alice Springs principal, Andrew Doyle, said: Our members are looking forward to 2013, when the market is expected to build on the momentum already seen over the last six months of 2012. He said the big oil and gas projects in the Top End and the continuing massive Federal Government spending on indigenous health and welfare would help drive the economy. Mr Doyle said this would lead to greater property sales and additional job opportunities. He said the $34 billion Ichthys project in particular was the key influencing factor on the Territorys propertymarket. But he said the relocation of Northern Territory Government departments from Darwin to Alice Springs would help the Centralianmarket. Mr Doyle said Territory property prices were expected to continue to rise, especially in Darwin. Darwin recorded the biggest increase in property prices for the nation over the past 12months to September. Mr Doyle said the combination of im proved consumer confidence and lower housing interest rates would result in an upswing in the overall market in Alice Springs, with property prices and turnover expected to increase during the next sixmonths.
