Mariners to stay on alert THE A-Leagues top dogs Central Coast havent tasted defeat for seven straight games, but dont expect them to get complacent. The Mariners host Melbourne Heart tonight and with Adelaide just a point behind on the ladder, can consolidate their place at the summit with victory. Fresh from a 2-0 win over Newcastle in last weekends F3 Derby, the Mariners are riding high with confidence. None more so than 35-year-old Daniel McBreen, who bagged both goals against the Jets to now lead the leagues scoring with nine goals this season. Everyones confident about tomorrow nights match but Arnie (coach Graham Arnold) keeps telling us dont get complacent and dont rest now, defender Josh Rose said. The seventh-placed Heart enter on the back of a 1-0 victory over Perth with Sudanese-born refugee Golgol Mebrahtu netting the late winner his first A-League goal. They can jump to fourth spot with a win at Bluetongue Stadium tonight. Rose knows his work will be cut out for him with Croatian striker Josip Tadic also up front for the Heart. The Mariners will gain exciting playmaker Tomas Rogic and first choice keeper Matt Ryan who return from the Socceroos successful East Asian Cup qualifying campaign in Hong Kong. The Heart sees the return of fellow rookie Socceroos Michael Marrone, Aziz Behich and Richard Garcia. Glorys Michael Thwaite at training Picture: ALF SORBELLO Turmoil for Jets, hope for Glory SOCCER PERTH Glory will attempt to take advantage of the financial uncertainty surrounding the Newcastle Jets when the two A-League sides lock horns at nib Stadium tonight. Glory defender Michael Thwaite knows all too well about the mental toll a flailing club can have on a players mindset after experiencing first-hand the demise of Gold Coast last season. The Jets are the latest A-League club to feel the pinch, with the tax office applying for both the Jets and NRL outfit Newcastle Knights to be wound up due to unpaid debts. Thwaite predicts the news will unsettle some of the Jets players, and said it was imperative for the Glory to take it up to their rivals early in tonights contest in order to leave them further rattled. Ive been in a similar situation with Gold Coast, the former United skipper said. I do feel for the players. Its quite hard. Obviously theres families, mortgages etc. You never want to think about those off-field situations, like not getting paid. (They will be experiencing) a bit of confusion. I think we can take advantage of that definitely. Stand-in Jets skipper Ruben Zadkovich said his team hadnt been affected by the drama, and were still receiving payments on time. Were confident that they (Hunter Sports Group) will be right and theyll work it out, and well just go out there and play the best we can, Zadkovich said. The Glory (11 points) are in desperate need of a win after tumbling to eighth spot. Newcastle (13 points) have lost three of their past four games to slip to fifth. Both teams regain key players for the crunch clash, with Liam Miller, Scott Jamieson and Thwaite bolstering the Glory, and Adam Taggart, Josh Mitchell, Ryan Griffiths and Tiago Calvano all available for the Jets.
