Former Sydney Swan Michael OLoughlin will coach the All-Stars and will be assisted by Roger Hayden, Troy Cook and Andrew McLeod. The match will follow the AFLPA Indigenous Player Camp that will also be conducted in Alice Springs from February 5-7. AFL National Community Engagement Manager Jason Mifsud said the biennial camp and match are an opportunity to bring all 67 indigenous players together. Indigenous players look forward to the Australian Football League Players Association (AFLPA) camp and AllStar match to reinforce, celebrate and strengthen cultural identity, create awareness of personal development opportunities and engage with the Aboriginal communities of Central Australia, he said. The players will conduct clinics and visits in Alice Springs and surrounding communities prior to the match. In addition to the AllStars program, we are again inviting key staff from AFL clubs to attend to further develop their capacity and cultural understanding of Indigenous people. Richmond Football Club chief executive Brendan Gale said the club is looking forward to playing the match at the conclusion of their Aust ralia Post AFL Community Camp. We are proud to be involved in the Indigenous All-Stars match. Its important that we celebrate the outstanding contribution the indigenous community has made to our game and the AllStars game is a great way to do that. Playing the game in conjunction with our Australia Post Community Camp will also allow us to build on the work we have been undertaking in Alice Springs and surrounding communities for quite some time. The match is proudly supported by the North ern Territory Government and sports minister Matt Conlan said the Government is a proud supporter of the AFL and values the sporting passion it brings to the community. AFL is extremely popular among Territorians and the game is certainly one to mark on the calendar, he said. Crowds flock from across Central Australia f o r t h i s h i g h l y anticipated event. An Indigenous All-Star squad will be announced in the new year. The side will be captained by Sydney Swans superstar Adam Goodes. Warriors forfeit RUGBY UNION Warren Thomson DINGO Cubs have entered the Christmas break at the top of the ladder after Kiwi Warriors forfeited against them on Friday night at Anzac Oval. Warriors didnt have the minimum 10 players required, but Cubs players put on a Warriors guernsey so that they could play a scratch match with 20-minute halves. Dingo Cubs coach Junior PoChing was pleased with how his team played in the scratch match. Its always hard when you come up against a forfeit team and the boys get in the motion of it just being a practice match, but the boys did well and stuck to the structure and there was a few things we changed during the week and it showed on Friday, he said. Po-Ching took the coaching reins at the start of the season and has been happy with the clubs season so far. The progress Ive seen has been good. Its good to hear positive feedback from club members and spectators about how much Cubs have improved, he said. As a coach, Im just there to advise and direct, but, at the end of the day, the boys play the game and its up to them if they want to field a team every week. There are a few players that have never played in their lives, like our lock Ollie Durnin and hes definitely one of our most improved players so far this season. Warriors captain Stu Todd was pleased with his teams effort in the scratch match. Even though we had only nine, we played with heaps of heart, he said.
