ServiceActivity4Developappropriatestrategieswithinremote communitiestoreducetheimpactofsuicideandsuicidalbehaviour WeKnowOurStrengthsProject GeorgePeckhamwasappointedtotheprogramandlaterresignedduetoinvolvementwiththe mensleadershipprogram.CharlieHodgson,alocalindigenousmanwasappointedtotheposition inAugust2007.TheFederalInterventionandtheinitiativesbeingintroducedintoremote communitiessuchasquarantiningofpaymentsandtheabolishingofCDEPhasimpactedonthe workoftheStrengthsprogram.Thissuicidepreventioninitiativereliesontheinvolvementof communitymembersandleaderstotakepartinstrengthbasedactivities(i.e.culturalbushtrips, training,etc),howeverithasbeendifficulttohavethemenreleasedtodotheseactivitiesbecauseof theirobligationstoworkforthedole. LifePromotionSuicideStoryWorkshop Thisprogramhasadaptedtheconceptsfromothersuicideawarenessworkshopsintoaprogram thatacknowledgestheproblemofsuicideinthelocalcontextofCentralAustralia.Forittobemost effectiveitneedstobeownedanddeliveredbylocalAboriginalpeople.
