MHACAServiceReport,JanuaryJune2008 /7 3.2ImprovingServices NewOfficePremises TheshifttothenewpremisesattheoldPanoramaGuthbuildingtookplaceinOctober2007andit tookthefirstfewmonthsof2008forrenovationstobefinalizedand,inturn,forpersonneltofeelfull settledandprogramstobefullyoperational.Thereisstillsomelandscapingworktobecompletedat therearofthebuilding,howeverthemovecertainlybuiltstaffmoraleandtheconsumersare delightedwiththehomelikefeelofthebuildingandthewelcomingatmosphere. ReOccupationalHealth&SafetyfireequipmentwasinstalledthroughoutthenewbuildinginApril andfireevacuationplansdrawnupandplacedwiththefireequipment.Firstaidkitswerealso purchasedforallMHACAvehiclesandareviewundertakenofexistingkits. MHACA&TeamHealthJointRecordDatabase TheprojectplanfortheinstallationoftheConsumerDatabasewasagainplacedonholdbecauseof achangeinAdministrationstaff,howeveraftertheannualaudithastakenplaceMHACAwillbe refocusingonthisprojectinthesecondhalfof2008. 3yearCoreandServiceAgreementNegotiations MHACAs3yearServiceAgreementswiththeDHCSfor20072010areallinplaceafternegotiations earlyinthefinancialyear.TheTraining&PromotionProgramwasreviewedandagreementreached withtheDepartmentthatthisbefundedforsubsequentyears(from200809)throughthePathwaysto Recoveryprogram. Evaluation&UpdateoftheStrategicPlan ThismonumentalundertakingtookplacebetweenMarchandJune2008withmanythankstoall staff,consumersandCommitteememberswhoparticipatedintheproject.Theprocessof developingtheplanhasenabledMHACAtoreviewitsprogramsandconsiderimprovedservicesfor peoplelivingwithmentalillnessandalsointheareaofsuicideprevention. ThenewStrategicPlan 20082011isapivotaltoolwhichmapsthedirectionofMHACA forthenextthreeyears:thePlan willinformeachprogramareaandindividualstaffworkplanswhichwillalsobebasedon respectiveServiceAgreementstoensureallMHACA programsareworkingfromaunified foundationforthesuccessfulfutureoperationsoftheAssociation. 3.3Staffdevelopment MHACAhascontinuedtoprovideprofessionaldevelopmentopportunitiesforstafftodevelopskills requiredtoworkeffectivelywithinthissector. Theaimoftheworkshopsistoprovideinformation andtrainingonarangeoftopicstoassiststaffindevelopingtheirskillsandthereforeproviding qualityservices.Theworkshopsalsoprovidedteambuildingopportunitiesandopportunitiesto discussservicedevelopment.MHACAprovidescoretrainingforallstaffincluding: CoreStaffTraining InternationalRecoverybasedPracticeModelHelenGlover CrossCulturalTraining ACAPTrainer,AliceSpringsHospital BostonReadinessforRehabilitationTrainingVicServ MentalHealthFirstAidMHACA,Training&PromotionsProgram ASISTMHACA,LifePromotionsProgram
