12/01/2012 Workplace Health & Safety Advisory Council Annual Report 2010-11 page 11 Construction subcommittee Current membership of the Construction subcommittee comprises: Jerry Tyszkiewicz (Chair) Territory Construction Association Geoff Hull NT WorkSafe Brian Malacari NT WorkSafe Mick Huddy Unions NT Scott Woodrow Unions NT Peter Hermann Unions NT Mark Crossin Unions NT Marita Wilson Territory Alliance Justin Gill Housing Industry Association Dean Chambeyron Housing Industry Association The following issues were referred by the Council to the subcommittee: Consideration of data on injury in the sector and input to prevention campaigns: o This included: traffic management; construction scaffold campaign; amenities on construction sites; National Asbestos review Comment upon information bulletins and communication and consultation activities in the sector. o Covered 03.01.08 portable ladder safety; 03.02.04 amenities on housing sites; 03.02.05 prevention of falls etc. Consider investigation reports of incidents and accidents in the sector and identify prevention strategies. The Northern Territory Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work. o Discussed appropriate training under currently approved NT RTOs. Review Safe Work Australias national campaigns. o Discussions and workshops held in the NT within the Sub-Committee and by Safe Work Australia Examine the requirements of National Standards, including Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work. Examine the Heads of Workplace Safety Authority (HWSA) national campaign, for Workers who work on or near public roads.
